First things first,I thank two other laouters who had the courage to get up at 3 am in the shivering cold and also the patience to stand in the queue for nearly 7 hrs just to get tickets for the India vs West Indies match which happened last Saturday(26th Jan).Hats off to you guys.As the media have analysed enough on the match lemme share some happenings on the course of the match. Our stand had the stamp of a notorious crowd(the stand parallel to the pitch). The net that was hanging in front of us said it all.we went early to get hold of the front row seat next to the boundary rope and also to have a glimpse of our great Indian team's practice session.I was unlucky that I had to see our Indian team's fielding practice session.None of the players had the slightest intention to hit the stumps.Sorry!may be they did give their best. Also Greg Chappel seemed to have lost hope with our team as far as fielding is concerned.OK! now the match had started, thanks to Robin Uthappa who gave us some solid entertainment and helped the ambience going. We guys sitting at the front row played our part too with the players. We had Bradshaw,Emrit,Gayle taking turns to field in the mid wicket just in front of us.They were smart enough to tackle us.May be the training given to them was not to look at the Indian crowd even if the stadium collapses. The true reason behind Gayle dropping a catch from Dinesh karthick was that he was admiring Jothika (tamil actress) in the trailer of "Pachailkili Muthucharam" (a tamil movie directed by Gautam).Gayle is not to be balmed here. Its normal human intention (even if u r an west Indian) to see it if something was shown around some 100+ times.Gautam are u listening!!
Only in such large gatherings can you see how much love and affection do people have for their heroes. In the middle overs of the WI innings when Kumble "the fumble" was being thrown on all sides of the ground,Sachin was fielding in the mid wicket and the crowd just kept roaring all the way.Sachin too had the courtesy to wave his hands. One reason behind the crowd staying still the end of the match was Brain Lara.He seems to have a lot of fans following here in India too.The crowd gave a roaring reception when he came out of the pavilion. He didn't dissapoint..he hit a half century. So at last it was cricket which won the game.
